LEGO IJN TAIHO AIRCRAFT CARRIER MOC
The first carrier in the Imperial Japanese Navy to feature an armored flight deck, reflecting advancements in naval architecture at the time.

Though it had a short service life, the Taiho was a key part of Japan’s naval fleet, and its design influenced later aircraft carriers.
This LEGO MOC recreates the armored design of the Taiho, with a focus on its large flight deck. The model includes subtle details like the angled flight deck (replicated with classic studs), a heavily armed control tower, and multiple anti-aircraft positioned along the deck of the ship. The color scheme in this model uses shades of grey to replicate the warship’s appearance during its time of service in the IJN, with highlights that bring attention to the deck’s structure and main runway.
This MOC is ideal for those looking to expand their LEGO fleet with an important piece of World War II naval history.
MODEL #0060 | 105 pcs.
I used a special technique using 1×2 brackets attached to SNOT bricks but placed upwards to easily place the anti-air weapons while keep a smooth and flat runway.
