LEGO USS ESSEX (CV-9) MOC
The original design of one of the most significant aircraft carriers of World War II before it was modernized.
I created this LEGO USS Essex CV-9 MOC to capture its original design. The Essex-class carriers played a critical role in the US Navy during the battles in the Pacific Theater. I aimed to recreate the iconic shape of this warship, from the flight deck to the detailed superstructure, down to the hull and stern.
Though not built to a defined scale, this micro-scale version does the job to make a simple but detailed build stand out perfectly well in a group of micro-scaled ships. I’ve heard some people making entire micro-scaled LEGO navies, and this model will do the job just fine!

There are a lot of techniques used on this ship. Attaching the hull to the flight deck was both tricky and fun to build and I invite you try it building it out using the building instructions provided with this model.
