LEGO ORP BLYSKAWICA DESTROYER MOC
One of Poland’s most renowned naval vessels.
The ORP Blyskawica was a Polish destroyer, one of the two Grom-class vessels built for the Polish Navy in the late 1930s. Launched in 1937, Blyskawica was one of the most advanced and powerful destroyers of its time, built in the UK by J. Samuel White shipyard. The ship played a crucial role during World War II, most notably during the Battle of the Atlantic and the defense of the Isle of Wight during a German air raid in 1942.
Throughout the war, Blyskawica was involved in numerous escort and patrol duties, helping safeguard merchant vessels against German U-boat and air attacks. She became a significant part of the Allied efforts in the North Sea and the English Channel, ensuring vital supplies reached their destinations. After the war, ORP Blyskawica continued to serve in the Polish Navy until her decommissioning.
Today, she is preserved as a museum ship in Gdynia, Poland, symbolizing Poland’s naval history and its contributions to the Allied war effort.

The designing process for this model was a bit more difficult. It’s not your usual gray-scaled ship where instead you need to look for the right pieces with shades of medium blue, black, white and light-bluish gray all coming together to replicate the original camouflage of the ORP Blyskawica.
