LEGO ASAMA MARU OCEAN LINER MOC
She was an elegant traveler for her time.

The Asama Maru was a luxury ocean liner operated by the Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and launched in 1929.
Known for its elegance and modern amenities, the Asama Maru transported passengers between Japan and the United States, becoming a popular choice for both Japanese travelers and international guests.
During World War II, the ship was repurposed for military use. In 1944, the Asama Maru was sunk by a U.S. submarine, ending its service but leaving a legacy as one of Japan’s most distinguished pre-war ocean liners.

I have a particular fondness to this ship’s design. I think the yellow 1×1 modified round tiles add a certain character to the ship model while also giving it some more detailing. I also like how the masts featuring LEGO Minifigure hands replicate some level of realism to the vessel’s overall structure at this scale.
