LEGO USS NAUTILUS SUBMARINE MOC
One of the first of its kind.

The USS Nautilus (SSN-571) was the world’s first nuclear-powered submarine, revolutionizing naval engineering and submarine operations when it was launched in 1954.
Named after the fictional submarine in Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the Nautilus set new records for speed and endurance, operating submerged for extended periods without needing to surface for air.
One of its most historic achievements was completing the first-ever submerged voyage beneath the North Pole in 1958, showcasing the strategic advantages of nuclear-powered submarines at the time compared to conventional diesel-powered submarines.
After 25 years of service, the Nautilus was retired and now serves as a museum ship in Groton, Connecticut.
MODEL #0157 | 1:500 | 94 pcs.
A brand season of Sub-May-Rine Month in 2022 made me focus on nuclear-powered submarines.
Since this one was also the first one of its kind, I focused on the important details such as the stabilizers (1×2 modified vertical clips) and a brand new tower design with two 1×2 bars. I reused the propulsion system which figured in previous submarine models as I saw it quite fitting with the SSN Nautilus at a 1:500 scale.
