Commissioned in 1927, HMS Nelson was the lead ship of her class and the first battleship built under the Washington Naval Treaty limits. With her unique design, featuring all main guns mounted forward of the superstructure, she stood out as one of the most distinctive Royal Navy capital ships of her era. During World War II, HMS Nelson saw extensive service in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, including the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943.
