The USS Wisconsin (BB-64), the last battleship built by the United States Navy, is a legendary Iowa-class warship known for its remarkable service and resilience.
Commissioned in 1944, the Wisconsin participated in critical World War II operations in the Pacific, providing naval gunfire support during the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. The battleship continued its service during the Korean War and was reactivated in the 1980s as part of the Navy’s modernization program.
Retired in 1991, the USS Wisconsin now serves as a museum ship in Norfolk, Virginia, preserving its legacy as a symbol of naval strength and innovation.
